Arafat Sunny granted bail

National cricketer Arafat Sunny was on
Monday granted bail in a case filed under the Dowry Prohibition Act, a day
after a Dhaka court had issued an arrest warrant against the player.
Sunny surrendered before the court of
metropolitan magistrate Zakir Hossain tipu around 11:00am and the judge granted
him bail after a hearing.
A woman claiming herself to be Arafat’s wife
filed the case on 20 January.
Muraduzzaman, the lawyer of Sunny, said his
client's bail in another case filed under the Women and Children Repression
Prevention Act has also been extended to 7 August.
A total of three cases were filed against the
national team spinner.
Earlier on 5 January, the woman filed a case
against Arafat Sunny under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Act. Sunny was arrested in the case on 19 January.
Later, the woman also filed a case on charge
of demanding Tk 2 million as dowry.
Finally, another case was filed against
Arafat Sunny and his mother under the Women and Children Repression Prevention
Act.
Sunny is now on bail in all three of the
cases.
